What If?

This is taken from an email circulating the Internet:

  • If any other of our presidents had doubled the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would you think that he is just an ignorant hot head?
  • If any other of our presidents joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder who's side he was on?
  • If any other of our presidents had pronounced the Marine Corps like Marine Corpse, would you think him an idiot?
  • If any other of our presidents had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records of any industry because one foreign company had an accident, would you have agreed?
  • If any other of our presidents had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87000 American workers unemployed would you support him?
  • If any other of our presidents had been the first President to need a Teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
  • If any other of our presidents had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take his First Lady to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had reduced your retirement plan holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought it a proud moment for America ?
  • If any other of our presidents had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
  • If any other of our presidents had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , wouldn't you have had second thoughts about his capabilities?
  • If any other of our presidents would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in his home town, would you not have thought he was a self important, conceited, egotistical jerk?
  • If any other of our presidents had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, wouldn't you have winced in embarrassment?
  • If any other of our presidents had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?
  • If any other of our presidents' administrations had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
  • If any other of our presidents had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
  • If any other of our presidents had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have ever approved?
  • If any other of our presidents had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

Baraq Hussein Obama accomplished all this in a mere 24 months. We now have about that long to come up with an answer. Oh, and where is the mainstream media?

Donald Trump is a B-B-Birther!

Donald Trump has been raising questions about Baraq Obama's birth certificate. As much as I think Donald Trump would be a disaster as president (although probably less of one than Baraq Obama), he can certainly stir the pot, which might be his only actual goal anyway. He may be acting as a foil to draw fire away from other more traditional parties (e.g., the Republican party and it's candidates). That would be a great public service.

Why would Baraq Obama allow this controversy to simmer? Because it benefits him. It divides his adversaries. Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh won't touch this. Most tea partiers do question Obama's credentials however. And it is a huge precedent in the 'progressive' War on The US Constitution. Once we've had a president who doesn't meet the basic eligibility requirements as set forth in The Constitution, what are We the People going to do about it? Probably nothing (chip, chip). Can we plug the hole after the dam starts to leak? Maybe, maybe not.

On the other hand, let's say that Baraq Obama does have valid papers, and he does meet the constitutional requirements to be president. Then, when this issue reaches a fever pitch, and at a critical time in his re-election campaign, Baraq Obama simply waves out the required documentation with a grand flourish, and everyone who questioned his legitimacy instantly looks like an idiot, and the election of 2012 is history.

It's a win-win for Baraq Obama, and a lose-lose for We the People, for whom the integrity of the US Constitution remains our only protection against tyranny.

Interesting Quotes from Lord Acton

Here are some interesting quotes from Lord Acton (1834 - 1902):
  • "There is no worse heresy than the fact that the office sanctifies the holder of it."
  • "The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. Every class is unfit to govern."
  • "The strong man with the dagger is followed by the weak man with the sponge."
  • "And remember, where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. All power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely."
  • "Liberty is not the power of doing what we like, but the right of being able to do what we ought."
Lord Acton was a "Classical Liberal", most similar to a "Libertarian" in today's parlance. Lord Acton admired the American form of government, but he was sympathetic to the confederacy during our civil war, because he felt that the federal government was infringing on states' rights. Keep in mind that the civil war was about much more than just freeing the slaves, although that was certainly part of it. As usual, that conflict has been dumbed down to a single issue, which, though important, wasn't the only issue.

I bring this up, because someone reading Lord Acton's bio will say, "well he was a confederate sympathizer, so everything he said is invalid!". No. It. Isn't. If only life were that simple.

Eat The Rich!

Forget taxes, what would happen if we simply confiscated all of the money from every rich household, from every corporation, to fund the US Government?

The Current Regime is Giving Kakistocracy a Bad Name

In a well-choreographed move, Obama and the Democrats have managed to not pass a budget while simultaneously spending us into oblivion. Spending us into oblivion is a deliberate scheme invented by Cloward and Piven, to collapse the current free market, capitalist, constitutional system, in order to usher in full-blown socialism, thus relegating large segments of the population to degrading government dependency and zero productivity.

Now that the Republicans are insisting on a responsible budget, the Democrats are attempting to blame their self-induced government shutdown on the Republicans. They know full well that a government shutdown will anger a lot of people. They know that congress will continue to be paid, while military families will not. They know that even conservative or pro-military people will be angry at the Republicans, if the Democrats can shift the blame.

Now, I'm usually not a big fan of Democrats or Republicans. But in this case, the Republicans are doing the hard thing, the politically risky thing, the right thing, despite the Democrat setup. Oh, and one other thing: it was a 2010 election promise.

You have to love Michele Bachmann, who has pledged to donate her congressional salary to the military for the duration of any government shutdown. Democrats, take note: Michele Bachmann is what a true leader looks like. It's easy when you follow the Constitution.

Update: I know that some people are disappointed that the Republicans "caved" with the budget compromise. I am too, up to a point. But "Tea Party" Republicans moved the needle in the right direction.

“We control one half of one third of the government,” Darrel Issa, a California Republican told reporters. “We don’t mandate anything.”

Here's a play-by-play of what went down over the last month or so of negotiations.

'Progressives' have been relentlessly attacking our founding principles and the American form of government for 100 years. People are just waking up to that fact, and we're not going to fix it in one session of congress. Slow and steady wins the race. We won't make any significant progress until we re-acquaint the majority of our population with the founding principles of the American form of government. The government-run, union-run public schools have a gigantic conflict of interest when it comes to liberty and equal justice under the law. Repairing the education system in this country must be our first priority. The sooner we get started, the better. Because we won't see any significant improvement for a generation after that.

I Don't Like Watermelons

If you scratch an environmentalist, more often than not, you'll find a 'progressive' (illiberal control freak) just beneath the surface. These are the sanctimonious Agenda 21 buttinskis with visions of Godhood, who want to trample my property rights, and use the force of government to compel me to join their religion.

I call them "watermelons": green on the outside, and red on the inside. I'm not an environmentalist, but I am a preservative (formerly a conservative). The roots of both of those words are "preserve" and "conserve". Environmentally speaking, I'm a conservationist. I just don't believe in using the force of government to compel others to do what I happen to think is right. I only wish I could get the same consideration in return.

Which Article of the Constitution...

...gives you the authority to take us to war without congressional approval, Mr. Obama? At least G.W. Bush sought congressional approval and funding for "his war". Do we no longer have a constitutional republic? Rand Paul says it better than I do:

Barack Obama is like a bull in a china shop, and our Constitution is the china.

Go Get Sacrificed! I Don't Subscribe to Your Religion ~ Ringo Starr (Help!)

It is not that Agenda 21 environmentalist progressives are sanctimonious buttinskys that bothers me. It is that they are sanctimonious buttinskys with delusions of Godhood, who want to use the force of government to compel me to join their religion. That is what bothers me.
