Follow the 'Science' and Shut Up

"Follow the science" has become a mantra by the left to impose their religion on us poor, poor, pitiful, unsuspecting, non-scientific Classical Liberals. Trouble is, science is a process, not a religion. Science is based on evidence and skepticism, not non-falsifiable conjecture. Honest, educated, smart people know this.

Conversation is futile. The left considers free speech a violent attack on the oppressed.
Are they saying the oppressed aren't smart enough to deal with intellectual diversity?

"Religion is a culture of faith. Science is a culture of doubt." -- Richard Feynman

The left obviously do not understand this. They mistake science for religion.

Gain of Function Research Ought to be Criminalized

I have never been an advocate of over-criminalization of much of anything. I'm a limited government proponent. My default response to any problem is, 'can we solve this problem with more freedom, instead of less?' We should always at least ask the question. I think this is one of the rare instances where I think the answer is 'no'.

It seems to me that if the government has any role in this SARS COV-2 goat rodeo, it should be not just a pause in government sponsored viral gain of function research (holy crap, I'm paying for that?), it should be to ban outright, with the same moral indignation as global warming prohibitions, any gain of function research whatsoever. It isn't a matter of if it will get loose, it's when. That is unacceptable. I think the good doctor bears some direct responsibility for the COVID pandemic in the first place, and again with his malpractice in the handling of it.

In the video from my previous post, it is pointed out that gain of function research can be used for the monetary gain of actors such as Bill Gates and Anthony Fauci, which ought to be a conflict of interest, but worse than that, for state-sponsored biological warfare development. We ought to have treaties outright banning this kind of work.

Oh, Now I'm a Conspiracy Theorist!

El Guapo
Someone called me a conspiracy theorist for suggesting that NASA might have an agenda for global warming. You do not call El Guapo a conspiracy theorist!

I Want to do Something That Works

The kids for the past 30 years or so, have been programmed by government indoctrination factories euphemistically called schools. What classical liberals say does not resonate with this generation's world view or life experience anymore. They do not hold these truths to be self-evident. Not even the scientific method is understood or valued. The trappings of science and research are being used to promote an evil agenda; nothing more. When the end justifies the means, that is the end.

I think there is a very real chance that we're screwed, that we're entering another dark age, as we gradually lose the principles to create and maintain the freedom and technology that gave us the highest standard of living in human history. There's actually a reactionary rejection of it. I don't think we'll get it back without a cataclysmic historical event to effect a total reset. I only hope that in the rubble, someone finds the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution, "gets it", and uses it as a model to rebuild their little corner of the world.

Too despairing? I have been watching our government work. Unlike most people, I have been attending practically every city and county council meeting for the last four years. I have seen the sausage being made. Voters, voting for benefits paid for by someone else. Opportunists, special interests and "non profits" insinuating their "vision" into public policy, getting their hands on the levers of authority without any responsibility to the voters. Dare I say without our knowledge, for the most part. And I am sorry to say that all too many folks are unaware of, or downright hostile to the principles of good government.

I blame government schools. My wife and I spent years trying to get public schools to serve our kids. We thought we were the customer. But serving the kids was too much bother. It was against regulations. Or the professionals "knew better". The fact that we knew our kids better wasn't important. We finally realized that the schools think of our kids as the product, and not the customer.

I'll repeat that: the schools think of our kids as the product, and not the customer. When we realized that schools were nothing more than factories, producing only what the monopolistic factory owner wants to produce, that's when we decided to home school our kids. Oh yes, we still pay taxes for the public schools (you're welcome), but we then invest the additional personal time and resources to teach our kids what we think they need to know to succeed in life, in ways that are individualized for the best benefit to them, and not the reverse. I feel bad for the families who can't afford this luxury.

Every time I turn around, I hear about more claptrap in the schools. This wouldn't bother me if people had a choice. If you like your claptrap, you can keep your claptrap. If not, change schools. Did you know that the word "university" is the opposite of "diversity"? That's right, we need more diversity. Real diversity. Diversity of thought, not the superficial crap that passes for diversity on the left. The government schools need competition. Let the people choose. The best ideas will thrive, and the flawed ideas will wither and die. And not a moment too soon.

Why I Deny Global Warming | Western Journalism.com

I'm not a denier, I'm a heretic, but News Editor over at Western Journalism reiterates what I have been saying since day one:
I’m a denier for several reasons. There is no substantive evidence that the planet has warmed significantly or that any significant warming will occur in the future. If any warming does occur, it likely will be concentrated at higher latitudes and therefore be beneficial. Climate research has largely degenerated into pathological science, and the coverage of global warming in the media is tendentious to the point of being fraudulent. Anyone who is an honest and competent scientist must be a denier.
The alleged degree of global warming over the past 150 years is less than 1 deg C. Yet even in a technologically advanced country like the US, the inherent error in over 90 percent of the surveyed meteorological stations is greater than the putative signal. And these errors are not random, but systematically reflect a warming bias related to urbanization.
Urbanization, as in Agenda 21's "pack & stack". He continues:
Watts has documented countless instances of air temperature sensors located next to air conditioning vents or in the middle of asphalt parking lots. A typical scenario is that a temperature sensor that was in the middle of a pasture a hundred years ago is now surrounded by a concrete jungle. Urbanization has been a unidirectional process. It is entirely plausible – even likely – that all of the temperature rise that has been inferred from the data is an artifact that reflects the growth of urban heat islands.
The thermometers at KCID AM 1490, where I worked as an engineer just out of college was one of those reporting stations that started out in a field of grass. Don’t even get me started on the poor practices of the operators responsible for reading those thermometers. At least half the time, the temperature wasn’t taken at the right time, or wasn’t taken at all, but filled in from memory based on what the announcers were reading off the indoor/outdoor thermometer mounted above the mixing console.

I don't know if these guys paid the license fees to perform these songs in public, so they might be pulled soon. Get 'em while they're hot!

Deniers and Heretics and Skeptics -- Oh My!

Many watermelons argue that preservatives are all a bunch of dogmatic Christian fundamentalists who reject science. I don't think that's true. Let's consider the history of science and the role of skeptics and testable hypotheses in the quest for the truth. Following the line from Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Newton, Einstein...
