No More Red Ink
The younger generation should be incensed -- incensed! -- about what their parents' and their grandparents' generation is doing to their future. If the current federal deficit isn't reversed, and soon, they will have no hope of anywhere near the health and prosperity into which they have been raised. Please read this petition. If you agree, please sign it, and share it with as many other concerned parents as you can.

Double Standard?
I saw this little nugget over at SondraK's blog:
Less than a month after the Leftwing in America blamed conservatives for the Tucson shooting and demanded ‘civility’ in political discourse, a children’s play in Montana called for the beheading of Sarah Palin. But if a preservative did something similar regarding some left-wing hero -- in a children's play, no less -- we'd be excoriated. The only left-wing hero we have that has the same stature on the left, as Sarah Palin has on the right, would be Baraq Obama. Imagine the caterwauling from the left!
Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. "You can kill them with this, for they can nor more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity." ~ Saul Alinsky, Rules for RadicalsThose rules work both ways, and preservatives should start using them too!

POTUS SOTU
I only have this to say about Barack Obama's state of the union address: Will someone please put the US Constitution on his TelePromTer?
Here's my state of the union message:
Here's my state of the union message:
The US Constitution is still the official specification for the United States of America. Any regime that distorts or disregards The Constitution is untrustworthy and dangerous. The United States is so far out of spec, that we can't even see the spec. The spec is a dot to us.
Democrats and Republicans have both done their share of distorting and disregarding The Constitution, but the Democrats do it harder and faster. Since 2007, they have been doing it at warp speed.
Today, the union is facing many problems and challenges, many of them caused by not following The Constitution. Over the past three or four generations, people have become dependent on government programs not authorized by The Constitution -- for their government jobs, their retirement, their health care, and their welfare entitlements. This is unsustainable, as our 14 trillion dollar deficit all too obviously illustrates.
It is inhumane and politically unfeasible simply to terminate these unauthorized programs, so we must develop ways to phase out these usurpations, and phase The Constitution back in. Today, I call on politicians in congress work on a plan to once again to follow the same Constitution that we all took a sacred oath to uphold and defend, undistorted, with liberty and justice for all.

Lies, Damn Lies, and OFA
Within minutes of the House of Representatives passing H.R. 2, which would repeal ObamaCare, I received an email from Organizing For America -- the official propaganda arm of The Regime -- claiming, in part,
The Republicans were swept into office because We the People were weary of the Obama/Pelosi/Reid pedal-to-the-metal tactics and the 'progressive' agenda, especially ObamaCare. They were repudiated. There is no other way to put it. And now the cleanup begins. Many of those new Republican faces are tea party supporters, or tea party supportees, who believe that the Constitution is still the official specification for the United States of America, and maybe we should start following it, once again, undistorted, with liberty and justice for all.
The Republicans voted specifically for the interests of their constituents, and only for the insurance companies insofar as the free market is one of our founding principles.
The vote was 245 to 189, which means three Democrats also voted to repeal ObamaCare. It isn't a great showing, but it is interesting.
At 5:53 p.m. Eastern Time today, the House moved to repeal health insurance reform. Now, I have been known to point out that "lying" may be the most overused word in American politics today, when "mistaken" or "having bad data" or even "having an opinion different from mine" would be more accurate. However, this OFA claim is simply a bald-faced lie.
Every single Republican -- all 242 -- voted for repeal.
This is a vote for insurance companies. There is no other way to put it.
Because if the question is what is best for Americans, repeal would never come up: Health reform is already at work improving the lives of millions of people. Repeal will result in 32 million fewer Americans with health coverage -- and add $230 billion to the deficit over the next 10 years.
Republicans in Congress need to know there's a political price to pay for siding with special interests over the constituents in their districts.

SNL: Weekend Update Saturday Jan. 15
I rarely watch Saturday Night Live anymore, and last night, I was reminded why. On the Weekend Update segment -- which I used to really enjoy when Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd and Dennis Miller did it -- Seth Meyers did a little riff on the Second Amendment (after taking a cheap shot at Sarah Palin), in which he characterized the founders as a bunch of rubes: "What are all these metal beasts rolling down the thoroughfare? What are all those horrible flying steel dragons? And why are all the slaves out?" Then he went on to illustrate his complete ignorance as to the purpose of the Second Amendment.
Note to Mr. Meyers and NBC: I don't expect you to have any respect for the founders or the Constitution; they have been under assault for 100 years by the 'progressives'. But the Constitution is still the official specification for the United States of America. If you think the Constitution is anachronistic and obsolete, then you can change it by due process, if you dare. But first, please familiarize yourselves with the founding principles of our republic, so you don't continue making fools of yourselves.
The thing that really got me from Mr. Meyers' insulting remarks is that if Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin dropped out of a time machine and landed in the 21st Century, I think they would be fascinated by our technology, not intimidated by it.
Cars: "What an amazing contrivance! How does it work? May I operate it?"
Aircraft: "I see you have finally mastered flight. We've been trying to do that since DaVinci! The key is getting enough power in a light enough and small enough space to lift it, isn't it? How does it work? May I operate it?"
Computers and the Internet: "It's like having a world-class library in every home! I want to become proficient with that letter input device." My guess is that Ben Franklin would teach himself to touch-type at 50 words per minute within a month.
Slavery: "Thank God you have managed to solve that problem. I had serious reservations about whether it could ever be done. You fought a war over slavery? I'm not surprised. I'm glad to see that the republic is still intact after all that, and 230 years! It seems you're not really using the Constitution much anymore though, are you?"
Television: "What an amazing contrivance! Why do you tolerate such disgusting content? Yes, I know, the First Amendment technically permits it, but we put that in there to facilitate political discourse, not as a license to debase society!"
I think the founders would thrive in the 21st century, although they might not like our moral and intellectual laziness. Conversely, I think most contemporary men would suffer and die in the 18th century.

My Name is Betsy. I'm a Killer.
Here is an excellent article by Betsy M. Galliher, over at American Thinker:
My name is Betsy. I'm a wife and proud soccer mom, a writer, and a small business owner. I'm also a killer.(Continue reading...)
On the morning of January 8, 2011, I intentionally entered a gathering held by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and shot her at near-point-blank range. I injured fourteen others, killing six -- among them a beautiful, curious, doe-eyed, nine-year-old girl. I didn't actually pull the trigger, but I'm as guilty as the psychopath who did.
Here are just a few of the charges against me:
I am a conservative.

Tucson Massacre -- Who's Really to Blame?
Back in the 60s and 70s, to prevent a few cases of abuse, the 'progressives' (including whack-jobs like Ken Kesey) made it much harder to have someone committed for insanity. Having thrown the baby out with the bath water, we now have many more lunatics roaming freely without adequate supervision, medication or other treatment. Ironically, if anyone other than the shooter himself is responsible for the Tucson massacre, it is the 'progressives'!
It looks as if Loughner's parents were not up to the task of keeping him and society safe. I understand his mother had a nervous breakdown over this massacre. This whole thing is just tragic from top to bottom -- and it has absolutely nothing to do with political rhetoric.

American 'Progressive' Media RIP
The American 'progressive' media officially died on January 11, 2011 (1/11/11) when they attempted to smear millions of people, who chose to reject the 'progressive' agenda, with "blood libel" in last Saturday's Tucson AZ massacre. The death has been ruled a mass suicide.

Blood Libel -- Bullseye, Sarah!
The 'progressives' have their panties all in a twist over Sarah Palin's video speech this morning. She used the term "blood libel", which the 'progressives' are calling "deeply anti-semitic". (That begs the question as to why Sarah would start talking about Jews in the middle of a speech about something else entirely.) Most non-deranged people would take "blood libel" to mean what I took it to mean, and what Sarah intended it to mean: libel = false accusation, blood = murder or violence; i.e., a false accusation of murder. You pathetic 'progressives' are really grasping at straws now!
ABC's The Note said, "Sarah Palin once again has found a way to become part of the story." Excuse me?! Sarah's speech was in response to media accusations. You and your ilk made her the story! You people cannot be serious!
Full disclosure: for the 'progressive' deranged encyclopedia, my use of the term "bullseye" in my title means "right on". Do not infer that I am trying to incite violence.

Tea Party Movement Responsible for Giffords Attack -- GMAFB!
One of the first comments that I read in response to the early reports of the deranged gunman's attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was, "a major win for Sarah Palin and the NRA". That was followed by remarks, even by people who should know better, blaming Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and the tea party movement for the kind of heightened hostile political rhetoric that causes some people to "go over the edge".
Give me a break! If it weren't for the 'progressive' attack on our founding principles, their distortion of, and disregard for the US Constitution, we wouldn't even have a need for "heightened hostile political rhetoric", because there would be no (internal) threat to our constitutional republic.
The tea party movement, more than anything else, values the US Constitution, the rule of law, and holds these truths to be self evident: That all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If anyone mistakes that political rhetoric for an exhortation to kill, then they truly are deranged, because none of these principles are compatible with a violent attack on a peaceful assembly at a grocery store.
Oh, and the NRA supports responsible gun use and ownership. A violent attack on a peaceful assembly at a grocery store doesn't constitute responsible gun use. Sane people would blame the perpetrator, and not inanimate objects.
Update: For all the accusations of hyperbole directed at conservatives, let's not forget:
Update: Michelle Malkin pulls together a montage of unhinged hostile rhetoric from the left. Hello Pot? This is kettle! You're black!

- MSNBC's Chris Matthews fantasizing on air about seeing Rush Limbaugh shot in the head
- Sandra Bernhard: Sarah Palin should be GANG RAPED if she comes to New York
- The Craig Kilborn Show superimposing the words "Snipers Wanted" over the face of President George W. Bush
- Nobel "Peace Prize" winner Betty Williams publicly stating her desire to murder President George W. Bush
- British film makers Gabriel Range and Simon Finch making a 2006 movie fantasizing about assassinating President George W. Bush
- Alec Baldwin urging the murder of Henry Hyde, his family, and ALL Congressional Republicans and their families on national television
- David Guy McKay and Bradley Neil Crowder, two America-hating left-wing terrorists, were arrested by the FBI after conspiring to firebomb Republicans at the 2008 GOP Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The American Media refused to report the story.
- NPR commentator and ABC News reporter Nina Totenberg wishes death by AIDS on Senator Jesse Helms and/or his grandchildren
- Julianne Malveaux publicly wishes death on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

The End of a Travesty
And so endeth the reign of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. She was easily the worst speaker in my lifetime, and I lived through Tip O'Neill. It will take decades to repair the damage that she has done to the Constitution and to the republic that is supposed to implement it.
I nominate this as "Picture of the Year" for 2011.

The National Debt Tops $14 Trillion
I noticed this little news item today. If that doesn't spoil your lunch, here's a link to the national debt clock. They have it broken down in numerous categories, including cost per taxpayer. Swallow your coffee and cover your keyboard before you click, because you might just puke.
For a long time, I have been saying that it is inhumane and politically unfeasible just to terminate 'progressive' big government programs and institutions, and that we should phase them out instead. However, I fear that due to years of mismanagement, and despite plenty of warning, that decision may already have been made for us. I believe that the laws of economics will do what they always do, and like the law of gravity, bring unstable things crashing down under their own weight -- with all of the associated (and predictable) pain and suffering.
Many commentators believe that the pain and suffering will cause the populace to demand relief, allowing 'progressives' to usher in their socialist dystopia. Some commentators believe that this was by design (Cloward & Piven). If so, then that practically is the definition of evil.
Attention, politicians running up the debt in such an irresponsible manner, and mortgaging our children's future: Where in the Constitution did We the People give you the authority to do that?

The 10 Biggest 'Non-Story' Stories of 2010
I want to share a very heartwarming review by George Scaggs over at American Thinker about the national media's coverage of 2010:
No doubt, 2010 was a historic year. While it's not unusual for Big Media's undeniable bias to lead them to miss, if not intentionally ignore, certain stories, in terms of volume, 2010 seems to have offered a banner crop. Now, that's what I'm talking about.
Granted, no single story in 2010 compares to the biggie they missed in 2009: the ascendancy of the "Tea Party" movement. After the better part of a year, the mainstream press finally caught up in 2010. Oh, sure, they're still miscasting and criticizing the phenomenon, but they no longer deny its existence or impact.
The delightful irony in Big Media's year-long exercise of ignoring and misrepresenting the Tea Party is that it ultimately served to grow and embolden the rebellious movement. (Continue reading...)
