Donald Trump has been raising questions about Baraq Obama's birth certificate. As much as I think Donald Trump would be a disaster as president (although probably less of one than Baraq Obama), he can certainly stir the pot, which might be his only actual goal anyway. He may be acting as a foil to draw fire away from other more traditional parties (e.g., the Republican party and it's candidates). That would be a great public service.
Why would Baraq Obama allow this controversy to simmer? Because it benefits him. It divides his adversaries. Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh won't touch this. Most tea partiers do question Obama's credentials however. And it is a huge precedent in the 'progressive' War on The US Constitution. Once we've had a president who doesn't meet the basic eligibility requirements as set forth in The Constitution, what are We the People going to do about it? Probably nothing (chip, chip). Can we plug the hole after the dam starts to leak? Maybe, maybe not.
On the other hand, let's say that Baraq Obama does have valid papers, and he does meet the constitutional requirements to be president. Then, when this issue reaches a fever pitch, and at a critical time in his re-election campaign, Baraq Obama simply waves out the required documentation with a grand flourish, and everyone who questioned his legitimacy instantly looks like an idiot, and the election of 2012 is history.
It's a win-win for Baraq Obama, and a lose-lose for We the People, for whom the integrity of the US Constitution remains our only protection against tyranny.

This is a great point.
ReplyDeleteI think the proper perspective is if tens (or maybe hundreds) of thousands of Americans are concerned about something then it should be carefully considered regardless of what that issue is. There should have been a congressional committee to resolve the issue right off the bat but there wasn't.
Look at Obama's first executive orders. Look at the way the cases against him have been dismissed in courts. All it does is expose how in-bed with each other these big government agencies are and how widespread the problems are.
As for the situation with Trump, I don't believe he's even close to presidential material. I'm sure he's getting a lot of coaching right now but he doesn't have a fundamental understanding of liberty at all.
Ron Paul's the only legitimate candidate. Please give him a second look. You can ONLY get the true perspective on him from his own mouth and he's been saying the same (right) things for years. You owe it to yourself to read his book if you haven't already.
If the president had been properly vetted, it would have been impossible to take Baraq Obama seriously as a candidate without presenting evidence of his basic constitutional qualifications up front.
ReplyDeleteObama's entire presidency has been a sad commentary on the pathetic state of American politics today.
